DEMOCRAT was foaled on 21st September, 1902, and won First Prize at the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales Metropolitan Show, hold in Sydney, from 11th to 19th April, 1906, the first and only time he appeared in a show in Australia; also First Prize at Wanganui Agricultural Show, 1906.
