TOKO ROAD NOTES.

(From our own Correspondent.)

A grand concert was held in the ball oq Wednesday evening last in aid of the Sunday School. The programme was arranged by Mr E. T. King and some Toko friends. Mr Marfell occupied the chair. The following items were rendered in firstclass style:—Pianoforte solo, Mrs Mounsell (2); songs, Mr Day (2), Miss Fieldes (1), Miss Mounsell (2); dialogues, “Application for Divorce,” “Dissecting Doctor,” and “The White Hat.” The dialogues were really good and caused much laughter among those present. The programme was given in Toko about a fortnight ago, and took so well that they are going to repeat it next Tuesday evening, the dialogues alone being well worth anyone going miles to hear. Things are looking fresh up here. As a result of the fine week milk at the creamery is rapidly increasing. Wo have just had the school examination, and the Inspector’s report should bo very encouraging to all concerned; it shows a decided improvement on the past. It is a credit to our teacher (Mr N. Day), who is sparing no pains to push the pupils on. d’h© school is now on the verge of getting an assistant teacher. If parents will send their children regularly for the next quarter they will bo entitled to the second teacher, which will he better for all.

The chief topic here now is: Who is going to score the Parliamentary honours? If one listens to everybody’s talc, both candidates will ho elected. As far as I can see, I think it will he a good fight and a close finish. .Let us Imps above all that tiie fight wil 1)0 a clean one. The Liberal candidate has set a good example.
