MATAU-KIORE ROAD.
(To the Editor “Stratfprd Post.”)
Sir, —I had not intended taking any notice, through your columns, of the grumble from the Matau settlers, who are, undoubtedly, in the very uncomfortable position, but the clipping which you insert in to-night’s paper from Eketahuna, newspaper induces mo to explain that Kiorc railway station is in Stratford county, and that Matau is in Clifton. With all the goodwill possible towards the Matau settlers, the Stratford Council could not see its way to take money from Stratford ratepayers and spend it for the benelit of their neighbours. The
obvious remedy for their grievance was for Clifton to adjust its boundary w itii us and come out to Kiore station. My Council, in the interests of the Matau settlors, made that suggestion to Clifton, and 1 am happy to say that there is every probability of its being arranged. One side of a story, you see, is alright until the other is heard.—l am, etc., Cl. A. MARCHANT. November 0.
