Wanganui, November 4. A man named Norton had two fingers and thumb badly injured last evening through the explosion of ;> dynamite cap which ho was handling. In connection with the shipping dispute* the wharf labourers, being in doubt as to whether the officers of the Arapawa are black-legs, decided to unload the steamer, and are awaiting information from headquarters as to what position to adopt. A special meeting of the Harbour Board held to-day decided to take over control of the wharf and sheds on the 11th instant, though protesting against the short notice given by the Department, and requesting the Department to allow the present wharfinger and clerical staff to remain for three months to permit the Board to advertise and appoint permanent officials. Mr John Butler, of Toko, avlio left for a trip to the Old Country some months ago, left London on the 2S)th September, en route for home, being expected to arrive about the middle of this month.
