NEW SOUTH WALES BUDGET

In tlio Assembly, Mr McGowen is delivering ttie Budget, its chief feature being the proposed new taxation, whereby lie expects to receive £200,000 from probate and stamp duties, and £775,000 from the income tax. The total revenue for last year was £13,832,485, which is £475,221 in excess of the estimate. The expenditure was £14,470,687, or £169,000 in excess of the estimate. The year opened with a credit of £989,706 and closed with a credit of £401,405, The public debt is £9,523,945;’ the increase for the year being £2,998,830. The railways and tramways earned at the. rate of £4 10s IJd per cent. The surplus, after paying expenses and interest, is £601,625. The total trade of the State was £86,000,000, an increase of £6,000,000 on the previous year. The total production was £62,'812,000. The wheat yield was 28,000,000 bushels. The estimated revenue for the current year, including the new taxation, was £15,816,085, and the expenditure £15,822,814.
