THE LATE MRS. CRIPPEN.

J SALE OF HER JEWELLERY. J The Crippen mastery, which twelve months ago attracted so'much public interest, was recalled by the sale last month of, a number of the late Mrs Crippen's possessions by Messrs Dcbenham, Storr, and Sons, at their premises in King Street, W.C. It ivill bo remembered that the personal belongings of the lady were taken possession of by her husband-, the late Dr. H. H. Crippen, and either given or bequeathed at his death to Miss B-thel Le Neve, who was acquitted )f a share in the murder. The sister )f the deceased lady contested the •.vill of the doctor, with the result that the goods passed into her possession, and it was on her instructions that they were offered for disposal by public, auction. The jewellery offered included three single-stone brilliant rings, a freestone ruby and brilliant ring, a thirteenstoue brilliant "(laming sun" brooch, a paste butterfly brooch, and a fancy paste bow brooch, and watch in case. The "flaming sun" brooch was fre-_ juently mentioned at the time of the trial in October last, witnesses testify inp; to the fact that it had been worn by Miss Le Neve at a theatrical ball shortly after the death of its former owner. ... The bidding was exceedingly brisk, and the prices realised exceeded expectation. One of the single-stone brilliant rings fetched £65, the purchaser being Mr H. -Harris, of Hounsditch. The "flaming sun" brooch was disposed of for £2O to a Liverpool dealer. Other prices were: Brilliant rings, £25 and £23 respectively; brilliant and ruby ring, £l3; paste-butterfly brooch, £1 7s; and bow brooch and watch, £2 Bs.
