| On Thursday October 19th, I held a sale at Okau, when there was a good yarding, though the sheep advertised did not come forward. The.ro was a good attendance of buyers, but vendors’ reserves in most eases were above market values. Yearling steers made £2 3s, 15 to 18-month steers £3 Is, 2-year do. £3 .17s, 21 to 3-year steers £5 2s Gd to £5 ss, 3-year bullocks (good condition) £6 13s, empty heifers £3 17s to £4, springing heifers £o to £6 3s, fat cows £5, forward cows £‘| 2s Gd,'bulls £2 10s to £4 Bs.' . On Friday,’‘the 20th, I held a clearing sale at Rahotu on account of Mr C. W. Field, when there was a fair attendance of the public, and everything was disposc'd of at full market rates. Dairy cows at profit and close n p made £6 'IDs to £9 ss, later £4 10s to £O, old and empty cows £2 12s Gd to £4, empty heifers £3 15s, bulls £3 and £l2 10s; sundries at usual rates.
On Tuesday at my usual fortnightly sale at Rahotu there was a fair yarding. Mixed yearling made 39s to £2 3s Gd, 15-month steers £2 I ts, yearling heifers (Jersey) £3 Bs, yearling heifers £2 6s Gd, 18-month heifers £3 3s to £3 5s, 1 empty heifers £o 11s, choice 15-month Jersey heifers (empty) £5, store cows £2 7s to £3 10s, forward cows £3 12s Gd to £4, fat cows £G to £6 15s, bulls £5 to £9. On the same day at my Stratford dairy yards there was a fair yarding of dairy stock. Heifers calved made £5 5: - .. to £7 10s; springers, £5 2s Gd to £9; dairy cow, £lO 10s. On Wcdonosday, the 25., I bold a clearing sale at Omata on account of Mr. W. J. Gregory, when there was a large attendance of buyers. Dairy cows, calved and close to profit, £5 to £8 10s; later, £3 5s to £4 10s; springing heifers, £4 7s Gd to £5 9s; bulls, £7; yearling heifers, £2 4s Gd to £3; yearling steers, £2 8s; ewes and lambs, 14s 5d to 15s 9d; hoggets, 12s 7d; sows and litters, £2 2s Gd to £3 2s Gd; mare, £5; calves* 9s to 21s 6d; sundries at usual rates. ’ At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there was a good yarding, and despite the wot weather there was. a good attendance. Mixed, 1 yearlings made 35s to 39s Gd ; yearling steers, £2 7s; yearling heifers, £2 156; empty heifers, £3'7s to £3 12s; springing heifers, £4 to £9, store cows, £2 5s to* £2 16s ; 6d; forward cows, £3 7s to £1 7s Gd ; dairy cows, £5 to £5 10s; bulls, £4 Is to -~5; pedigree yearling Jersey bull, 1 Igus. During the last week I have made the following private sales:—Mixed yearlings at 35s to £2 12s; yearling steers, £2 7s Gd to £2 11s; yearling heifers, £2 14s; 2 to 2 i-year steers, £4 6s Gd; empty heifers, £4 5s to £4 ,12s Gd; springing heifers, £G; live herds of dairy cows at £G to £lO 10s; 2-yoar heifers, £3 10s; fat bullocks, £.1,0 5s to £11; hoggets, 12s Gd to l!s; store wethers, 15s Gd; fat wethers, 20s to 23s Gd ; fat ewes, 13s 3d. MATTHEWS AND BENNETT’S REPORT. Matthews and Bonnet report that there was a very large entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last most lots changing bands and prices being oii tiic move. Yearlings made £2 to £2 14 s, yearlings (good) £3 2s Gd to £3 Bs, springrs £3 to £B, dairy cows £5 to £9, store cows £2 to £3 10s, steers £3 to £3 2s sd, fat | cows £5 9s, owes and lambs 10s 3d.
