HEGAHTY v. MAXWELL. (For Press Association.) Christchurch, October 26. A. C. Maxwell, amateur lightweight champion of New Zealand, \v.«s declared beaten on points by J. Ucgarty (Australasian champion) in a six-round go to-night at the Sports Club toun ament. Maxwell easily outfought bis opponent, who was -xu cd by the gong, and ho showed better work as a fighter in three of the six rounds. Maxwell put up a particularly sporting fight, and the decision was not popular. GRTFFEN KNOCKS OUT O’HALLORAN. Napier, October 27. In tlio professional light-weight boxing contest to-night, for a purse of £6o,' Jack Griffen (Westport) knocked mil Eon O’Kallnran (Hawke’s Bay) in the seventh round.
