The French accounts of the Benghazi bombardment state that the destruction in the European quarters was a serious blunder. The bursting of shells slaughtered women ana children wholesale, and some French and British subjects were killed. Malta, October 27. Corroborated ,accounts from Tripoli state that the Italian reoonnaisance at Tripoli encountered a Turkish outpost. The latter fired a few shots, and retreated, and the Italians pursuing, fell into traps laid by the Turks, who opened a heavy fire. 'Turks and Arabs appeared in all directions, and there was hot fighting, both sides losing heavily. Three companies of Boreagliers were annihilated, and several officers were captured and mutilated. The Turks and -Arabs renewed the atfack bn the Tripolitan outpests today, the enemy retiring with heavy losses. The plans of the Italian advance into the interior include an elaborate system of blockhouses.
