AUCKLAND DRAINAGE WORKS STRIKE.

(Per Press Association ) Auckland, October 26. In connection with the drainage works labourers’ strike, a meeting was held this morning and addressed by Mr. 'Semple, organiser of the Federation, of Labour. He spoke generally oh the organisation of labour, the need for unity and loyalty, the importance of, fighting strenuously for the privileges and rights of the working class', and tlie duty of every unionist to hold out for principles such as wore now at stake. The meeting passed a resolution not to communicate any details to the press. It appears an assurance has been given >y the contractors that sublotting will not be attempted. The union is waiting for the Drainage Board to take definite action in the matter. They wisli to take from the Board’s engineer the power to give authority for subletting.
