(Per Press Association.') Christchurch, October 25. A ease of suicide occur."-.d near Akaroa yesterday afternoon, the victim being an old resident of the Peninsula named John Wilkin. Deceased was in tho habit of taking a daily walk and not returning till late in tho day, and so notice was taken of his absence. Two of his sons, however, when returning home from work found their father hanging by the neck in a whare, quite dead. Deceased had boon suffering from illhealth recently, and expressed his intention of ending his life if affected again. Deceased was 79 years oi age. Wellington, October 25. This morning a retired civil servant, Mr Von Keisenherg, was_ found in his bed with a wound in his head, and 1)0 died at 1 o’clock this afternoon. The deceased, who was 55 years of ago, had been hed-ridden for tho past six years. A revolver with one chamber discharged was found by tho bedside. Auckland, October 25. A man named Alexander Smith, labourer, 25 years of age, was -town' 1- ] in the harbour to-night. In company with a mate lie wont out in a dinghy to a yacht. The sea was rough and the dinghy was swamped. Smith clung to the dingliy. while bis mate went fc* assistance, lint no trace of Smith was found when help arrived.
