The Tasmanian mail brought ten thousand letters letuvncd from the Commercial Bank of Tasmania as the result oi a imo-i'se mad) by the Bank to retain hdn r; : connected with Tatersall’s sweeps. The promise was made in order to have the postal prohibition removed. Many more letters are expected to follow, owing to the largo business through the approach of the Melbourne Cup. The Now South Wales Postal authorities are re-addressing the letters to senders and delivering them without charging postage or registration. The lattjr is effected on letters containing more than five shillings. Melbourne, October 20. Five thousand Commercial Bank of Tasmania letters were returned during the five days of prohibition, and one hundred thousand letters, stopped.
