EDUCATION OF THE PRINCE OF WALES.
In arranging for the education of the Prince of ; Wales, the King and Queen have had regard to the following considerations (says the London ccisrcspondent of tiie Melbourne “Argus”):—He must acquire fluency in several modern languages, must know the history of his country, her dangers and • friends, must have a knowledge of the legal relations towards the several estates of the realm, must know' the people, their passions and hopes, how' they' hav - succeeded, or how and where they have failed; must also know the benefactors of thp. race, and their discoveries ; must have a. knowledge of constitniional, government, international laws, and the various nice points which have to ho observed, in the relations of monarch to monarch and prince to prince. Universal history and an intimacy' with European literature must bo included, and it is imperative that bo become . conversant with the equipment and strength of English and foreign armies and navies. He must learn lessons of mutual help and tolerance, and must know' men, and how to judge them at their work. lie has ilso to acquire the art of speaking in public with fluency and ease, cultivate the happy' knack of saying the right thing at the right time, learn the gift of a quick recognition of faces and facts, and a faultless display of fca-.i.
