Under the heading “Is a Big Strike at Hand?.” the Dunedin “Star” says: “There is no gainsaying the fact that there is much discontent in the railway service throughout the Dominion. The question of sick leave is at or near tiie Head of a long list of alleged grioyinces. There is no secret on this point. A whisper now reaches us to the effect that the railway men may ho forced to bring their case before :hc public through the medium of a strike over the whole Dominion. The story is that if matters proceed to that length the strike will he brought about in the coming January, and that dl hands, with the exception of the engine drivers and firemen, will go nit. It is quite possible that the whole tale may ho contradicted, nevertheless wo know enough to warrant our publication of this rumour for what it, is worth,” )
