The Wanganui Council of Churches to-night passed a resolution protesting against - the introduction of the “no temerc” decree into New Zealand, because (1) it Would be a dangerous precedent to'allow one section of the Christian Church to interfere with the marriage laws of the Dominion; (2) ,ifc would imperil, the happiness of many homes in which there are mixed marriages; and (3) it would promote denominational interest in opposition to the well-being of the Dominion and tend to widen the breach between the divisions of the’ Christian Church. AN INDIGNATION MEETING. Napier, October 23. At an indignation meeting of the Napier branch of the A.S.R.S., a vigorous protest was entered at the nonincrease in wagjps in certain sections of the lower-paid men. BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS. Auckland, October 23. The following motion was carried by the Auckland Anglican Synod this evening: “That this Synod, being convinced that no system of education can be effectual in which religious instruction is deliberately omitted, strongly supports the resolution passed at the last general synod in favour of the introduction of the Now South Wales system .of religious instruction into the primary State schools of New Zealand.”
