TRIAL OF mi: PEACOCK. (Received 21, 9.20 a.in.) Melbourne, October 24. The trial of Dr. Peacock is proceeding. The evidence for the defence is that Davies was treated for threatened promatm'e birth. The girl was in great distress owing to want ol funds, and Peacock asked her to remain, but she persisted in leaving. Ho performed no operation. EIRE ON A COAL BOAT. ■ Fremantle, October 24. The bareme, Concordia, from Swansea to Ballaballa, has put in here, her cargo of coal having been afire since the 3rd instant. Closing the hatches prevented the lire spreading extensively. A portion ol the cargo was removed to reach the outRADITJM. (Received 21, 8.30 a.m.) Sydney, October 24. At the annual meeting of the Radium Hill Company, the chairman stated that large quantities of ore was in sight. The deeper they went tiro richer the ore became. He estimated that the mine, given a life of twenty-one years, would yield a profit of a million and a quarter, while the annual expenses would only he fifteen thousand pounds. SOLAR ECLIPSE. Sydney, October 21. The solar eclipse was only partially observed in Sydney, clouds interfering. In Brisbane, better observations were obtained. HOSPITAL SIJNDAY. Melbourne, Octobrr 21.
