THE REPORT CRITICISED
By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. United Press Association. (Received 24, 8.5 a.m.) London, October 23. The Sheffield and Bradford Amalgamated railway men are repudiating the Commission’s report. The Doncaster men have resolved -to ask for a joint committee,®and demand eight hours’ as the minimum, thirty s. nil mgs weekly, and unqualified recognition; failing compliance within a fortnight there will bo a general strike. . . Mr Barnes says the Commission s method of adjusting the railway trouble is an improvement on that of 1907. , Mr Williams says if the railway men continue working under present conditions until next July it would lie an absolute disgrace, condemning 100,000 who work for less 1 than £1 per week, Mr Appleton appreciated tilth disappointment of the men, and trusted that for the time being they would swallow their resentment and honourably carry out the undertaking, grimly determined to sweep away the decision at the proper time. (Received '/4, 8.30 a.m.) London, October 23. ‘ The New South Wales Miners’ Federation executive has submitted a revised demand for a minimum wage in abnormal places of 8s for miners and os for labourers.
