THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY QUESTION.
(To tlio (Editor “Stratford Post.”) Sir,—ln reading the annual report of the Fire Brigade 1 was struck by the Mayor’s remarks'on the loan proposals. He practically offers the (fire Brigade improved plant on condition that the members vote for the acquisition of the Electrical Supply Co.’s business. He further remarked that if the concern could be acquired at a reasonable price it would pay interest on a further £15,000 loan. 1 challenge him to prove that this can be done. I think that every ratepayer in this town would like the Mayor to show them how it is going to do so, it seems to me that the Mayor is prepared to say anything in mlor to put the burden of an out-of-date plant on to the ratepayers. Mr King, the ex-chairman of the company, also had a little to say and i would ask him if the company is paying so handsomely why are, the directors and shareholders so anxious to part with itr* Also how is the concern ruing to pay the ratepayers on posable a £15,000 capital when it is only paying 5 per cent on a paid-up capital of £-1,200?—1 am, etc., RATEPAYER.
