ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association.) • ~ Christchurch, October 22. Mrs. Ellen Egan, aged 55 years, who resided with her son, was found dead about 7 a.m. to-day in her homo. At the inquest John Egan stated that his mother seemed to be in her usual health last night. Dr. Whether, who was summoned to the house, and who had made a post-mortem examination, stated that Mrs. Egan was dead when he arrived. He considered that death was due to heart failure from degeneration, accelerated by excessive indulgence in alcohol. A verdict to that effect was returned. SHOT WHILE PIG-HUNTING. Hawera, October 23. Lance Storm, aged 18, was admitted to the hospital last night suffering from the effects of gun shot wounds on the left shoulder, thigh, and wrist. He was pig-hunting and tripped cur a stump. The case is not considereu serious. -- FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT. Timaru, October 23. On Saturday as the north train was leaving Winchester at 5.50 o’clock a fatal accident occurred, Archibald Carter, about 24 or 25, being run over and killed. No one saw how the accident happened—whether he fell off the train or whether he fell against the side of the platform and was drawn under the train.
