Sydney, October 19. Captain Sproul, representative of the Oceanic Company, in an interview with reference to the resumption of tho San Francisco-Sydney service, stated that the company’s stearac.is. Ventura, Sierra and Sonoma, are being reconstructed at a cost of a million dollars, with a view to re-start-ing the service. It is proposed to ask the Federal Government for a subsidy of £ISOO per trip on the basis of twelve trips a year. The steamers'have a guaranteed speed of seventeen knots, and will make the trip from San Francisco to Sydney in 20 days, and also guarantee to land mails from London in thirty days.
