EGMONT A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
Each year the Egmont Agricultural and Pastoral Association are compelled to make additions to their buildings and appointments on their Show Grounds, Hawera, and this year is no exception to the i nle. Men are busy on the grounds now., and are rapidly pushing on new work. A whole row of the old cattle pens has been pulled down and new well-built pens arc being put up at the northern end. In the place of the old pig pens, new ones are being built in a new position, and when completed will probably be the best Show pens in the Dominion. All new pens to be built now are being carried out according to a plan decided on some years ago, and in a few years’ time, when those alterations are finally carried out the grounds will be completely altered and will offer splendid facilities for a show ground. In the place of the old cattle pens, two'judging rings will bo made, so that the public may have every opportunity of watching the adjudications in the various classes. A similar ring will bo made for sheep. A permanent pavilion for dogs is now being built with permanent benches and dog divisions. Electric light will bo installed in this pavilion and also the produce shed, and with several nightwatchmen, exhibitors will have every confidence in the safety of their exhibits. In the main ring a good deal of turfing lias been done for the better running in tho harness classes. Schedules for the approaching show on the Bth and 9th November, are being freely applied for, and are still obtainable from the secretary (Mr F. G. Treweek), Hawera.
