(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, October 18. A nor’-wost gale was responsible for a coach accident at Otira yesterday, one of the coaches to the West Coast being overturned. There were two pasengers, both being thrown clear and unhurt. The driver (Maucer) hung to the reins and was dragged fifty yards. He had an arm dislocated. • Hokitika, October 18. There was a serious accident at the Mont D’Or Company’s claim this morning, Walter Thompson being knocked into a water-race and carried down. Ho was removed to the Totara hospital, and his conditions is very serious. Auckland, October 18. William Coppell, labourer, aged 45 years, who was injured by a fall of earth at a brickyard at Avondale on tho sth inst., succumbed to his injuries this afternoon in the Auckland Hospital. Deceased was a widower, and leaves four young children.
