VALEDICTORY.
THE COUNTY COUNCIL’S LAST MEETING.
Yesterday’s was the last meeting of the, Stratford County Council as at present constituted, and reference \\ as made to the matter before members dispersed yesterday evening. The Chairman (Cr G. A. Marchantl said he desired to express to members his .thanks for uniform kindness and courtesy extended to him by members during the time he had been ciiauman. The roads spoke for themselves good wine needed no bush. 1 oople who travelled .throughout the coimty ' v knew by the state of the roads how well the affairs of the county were administered. ’ Or; Maxwell said he wished to express his personal thanks to the chairman, who liad always extended the fullest information to him, as, indeed, lie had to all members. Ho also wished to place on record his appreciation of Mr Marchant’s thorough knowledge of public affairs and of the energy ho put into his work. On the whole, his stay on the Council had h con £ very pleasant one. He would look back on his stay in the Council with pleasure, and would regard it as a most valuable education m public matters. Ho considered himself fortunate in having sat under such a chairman as Mr Murchant. Cr. Porritt, who, having cease 1 to be a ratepayer, is ineligible for . reelection, expressed his.thanks to members and the chairman for their treatment of him during his term oi cluco, Cr. • Marchant briefly returned thanks to members for their kind remarks. . -
