Newton King’s Weekly Report. On Tuesday the 10th instant at my Stratford springing heifer yards there was a good entry, and a fail - attendance of buyers, and a number of heifers were disposed of as follows: Heifers calved and close up £G to £8 12s 6d, late calvers £4 10s to £5, cows in milk £lO ss. At my Hahotu sale on the same day there was a good entry, but the young cattle were not in demand. A line of lairy cattle yarded on account of Mr iluthcrford were in fair ( condition, but lid not realise as high prices as dairy •ows at recent sales. Mixed yearlings node £2, yearling heifers (poor) 2iJs 3d to 39s (3d, yearling bulls 28s, yearling steers £2 9s Gd to £2 13s Gd, store cows £3 14s to £4 3s, good forward cows £5 2s, 2-year steers £4 4s, Jersey bulls £2 Gs to £5 10s, Jersey heifers £8 ss, heifers (calved) £7 10s, springing heifers £3 10s to £4 ss; on account Mr Rutherford, dairy cows realised £3 10s to £8 ss, heifers £4 to £4 3s. The sale of Mr T. Lnxton’s pedigree and grade stock at Waitara Road m Wednesday the 11th instant, attracted a large number of buyers from ill parts of the district. Competition vas keen for all pedigree stock and irices realised furnished abundant .roof of the unabated popularity of le Jersey. The noted cow, “Granie’s Girl,” having been mated with Jr Goodson's newly imported bull, The Squire,” was the centre of atraction, and she was secured by her Armor owner, Mr E. Griffiths, at the reserve of 100 gns., who is to be con;ratulated upon his pluck and enterprise. Prices for other cows,* some >f which were aged, ranged from 23 o 41 gns. a A yearling heifer made 36 gns., and heifer' calves from 21} re 2gns. Aged bulls made 12 to • ■-9 gns.. yearling bulls 234 to 42 gns. i'iio grade dairy cows were a good useful lot, mostly at full profit, and met with plenty of competition, realising is follows: Cows at profit and close up (heavy grade) 10 to 15 gns., later and ordinary £5 to £9 15s, old and very late £2 to £4 10s, springing heifers £6 15s to £7, grade heifer calves 18s to £2 10s, yearling heifers £5 7s 6d to £5 15s, grade yearling bulls £2 2s Gd, to £3 15s. t On Thursday at Waiwakaiho I had a fair yarding of all classes. Bidding throughout was keen and good business resulted during the afternoon despite the very wot weather. Dairy heifers were much sought after. Mixed yearlings made 34s to £2 14s Gd, yearling steers £2 to £2 Is, yearling heifers £2 5s Gd to £2 7s Gd, 2-year heifers £3 9s to £4 Is, Jersey yearling heifers £3 5s Gd, store cows £3 2s, 2-year steers £4 3s, fat cows £5 19s, springing heifers £4 to £6, springing cows £4 to £5 l()s; p.h. English Leicester owes and lambs 27s Gd, do. 2tooth ewes 30s, do. rams H to 2 gns., yearling Jersey bull £5 19s. During the week I have sold privately a good number of cattle at the following prices: Mixed yearlings £2 to £2 11s, yearling steers £2 7s Gd, yearling heifers £2 9s to £3 2s Gd, 2-yoar empty heifers £3 15s to £4 10s, 2-year steers £4 to £4 7s Gd, store cows £3 10s to £4, 3-year bullocks £G 15s, fat bullocks £8 15s to £ll, fat cows £5 15s to £lO 10s, fat heifers £5 to £5 10s, working bullocks £32 a pair, in-calf heifers £4 10s, springing heifers and in-calf in lino of 20 £8 15s, herd of dairy cows £8 10s, pedigree Holstein bull 50 gns.; owes 12s Gd to 1-1 s, owes .and lambs 12s Gd to IGs Gd, fat ewes 18s Gd, hoggets 12s to 15s, fat wethers 20s to 24. s Gd, mixed sheep 13s Gd to 18s Gd.
