'The proposal for a mail subsidy to the' Union Company since their contract closed with the New Zealand Government, has been revived with a view to arranging an improved Australian' service.; The new proposal is for the Commonwealth to pay the cdrafiany thirty thousand pounds a year, with £IO,OOO additional for steamers to cal) alternately at Brisbane and Melbourne on the return johrney. The company is prepared to provide an improved and more expeditious service.
