H.R.H. tho Duke of Connaught was welcomed to Quebec and sworn in as Governor-General of tho Dominion of Canada. Great enthusiasm marked tho Duke’s arrival, whose first official act was to sign an Ordcr-in-Council prcK viding for by-elections due to Cabinet appointments. The Duke of Connaught, speaking* •it his reception in Parliament Building. alluded to tho i nnarkalile prosperity of tlio Dominion. He find a tribute to Earl Grey for making Canada better known in the Old Country. He realised that there would bo great difficulty. in following one who had done so much.
