THE BIG EVENT.
STRATFORD A. AND P. SHOW
Although the schedule for the Stratford Show. has only been issued a few; days, there has been a large number of applications'for it by intending exhibitors. The special prize list continues to receive additions, day by day; and when iho list is completed it will, without doubt, constitute a fiecord. The membership of the Association is now close on nine hundred, and new members are being proposed in considerable numbers at every meeting of the general committee. We are not surprised at the large roll of membership, as members are entitled to privileges that are .well worth the guinea paid by way of subscription. Membersnip tickets entitle the holders to admission, to the show grounds on both days of the show, and with each member’s ticket.goes two ladies’ tickets. The ladies’ tickets carry the privilege of admitting ..children under twelve years of age on each ticket. Members are also admitted to the lino members’ stand, and are allowed special rates for entering exhibits. Anyone wishing to become a member should not wait to be canvassed: all that is necessary is to send the names to the secretary,.. Mr. E. Jackson, Stratford. Special arrangements will be made on both show days for supplying hot water , and providing every convenience for families or others who may'wish to picnic on the grounds. Particularly strong classes are anticipated .in tho horse and cattle sections. In the matter ot cattle tho aim of the Association is
to make the Show the greatest dairyman’s show in the Dominion, and without doubt some very line pedigree cattle will be exhibited, and all i classes in the pedigree section should be well filled. The butter-fat competition last year filled with twentythree entries, and as the prizes are more richly endowed .this year a greater number of entries are expected. Special features of the Show will be the and poultry sections', the whole of the classes in these sections being revised and considerably , added to, the prizes also being on f a more liberal scale. Homo industries, fancy work, and sewing classes L should be of interest to the ladies. 9 A prize essay', open for competition to * pupils of all schools in the Taranaki provincial district for the best description of tho Stratford Show of. 1911, will no doubt draw the attention of all schools in tho district. The first prize will be a gold medal, second silver medal, and third certificate of merit. The- medals are being presented by Mr Jos. McCluggage.
