MONSTER THEATRE.
SEATING ACCOMMODATION FOR 15,000 PEOPLE.
A so-called open-air and light theatre, the like of which has so far not existed, has been designed by Herr Moritz Lehmann for the production of a. great military play to celebrate the battle of Leipzig at i,ts one hundredth anniversary in 1913. The auditorium and stage 1 will represent a country landscape near Leigzig, The theatre will, cover an area of 70,000 square yards, of which 40,000 square yards will be devoted to the accommodation of the audience.
This part of the.grounds, which will give seating accommodation to 15,000 people, will be laid out to represent a large meadowland, dotted with farms, country houses, shops, restaurants, cafes, and even museums, in which exhibits from the “Liberty Wars” will be on view.
The balconies, verandahs, windows, and roofs of the various buildings will serve as “reserved fateuils,” from which the occupants will obtain a particularly lino view of the military spectacle.
