LONDON TALLOW SALES

On Friday, 6tb instant, we held our usual monthly sale at our Kohuratahi yards, when there was yarded 226 cattle and 348 sheep, most of which were sold under keen competitoin. There was a largo attendance of buyers from the surrounding districts, and from the Ohara. Mixed yearlings realised up to 40s, yearling steers up to 61s, 18 month to two year steers 80s to 92s (id, 18 month to two year heifers 70s to 89s, store cows up to 745, heifers in calf 100 s to 105 s, bullocks 87s Gd to 100 s, and mixed hoggets from 12s 3d to 12s Bd. Our next sale at this centre will bo held on Friday, 3rd November. Wo field our usual weekly springing heifer sale in our Stratford yards on Saturday last, when there was a small yarding of 35 heifers and three cows, all of which were sold but one head. The quality was not up to the usual Taranaki' standard for heifers and cows, but there was very keen competition, and cows realised from 100 s to 150 s, heifers 110 s to 140 s, and heifers, which has just calved, 87s Gd to 110 s. Our next heifer sale is 011 the 14th instant.

At our Stratford yards on Tuesday, 10th, we held our usual fortnightly sale, when there was a fair yarding of 683 head of cattle and 62 sheep. Competition was brisk, as we had several outside buyers present, and where the stock was anything like good quality it was disposed of, except a lino of bullocks tho bidding on which did not corno near the owner’s idea of their value, consequently they were passed in. Yearling heifers realised from -18 s (id to 60s for a nice line of Jcrscy-Holnbein heifers, 18 months to 2 year heifers 6is to 102 s Gd, forward cows 80s to 925, fat cows up to 118 s Gd, store cows 40s to 765, yearling steers 20s to 42s Gd, while one nice line of the same age made up to 48s (id, mixed yearlings 51s, hulls 57s 6d to 335, sound.mouth ewes with lambs at foot 15s, hoggets 13s Id. Our next 8k rat ford sale will be held on the 24th instant.
