THE COMMISSION’S FINDINGS

(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyrigli f.) (United Press Association.)

Svdnev, October 11

The interim report on the .shortage of labour by the Labour Commission has caused consternation among the trades. Half the secretaries of the various unions declare that a large number of members are out of work. Mr MeGowen declared that last year the present Government spent £IO,OOO 011 immigration, which was more than previous Governments had expended. This year it was proposed to spend £60,000. The Government will institute a system of nomination of certain occupations where employment can lie guaranteed without displacement of the labour already engaged. General immigration is a matter for the Federal Government.
