The Government Meteorologist telegraphed’' this afternoon-Winds freshening, northerly strong winds to gale; expect unsettled and cloudy weather; rain probably following; glass' fall.
Mr. Frank Bird has been officially notified of his appointment as Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Stratford Electoral District as newly constituted.

The machine is a marvellous check record of every transaction during the day’s work, ft jh fitted with a special appliance'to enable it to be worked by electricity, and in addition to recording the payment made by a customer and the assistant to whom payment ■was made, the machine issues what is, in effect, a card receipt as a fnr-
vn.er check which is handy to the customer. Tiie machine was installed by Mr. Land berg, the National Cash Register Co.’s expert.
