RECITATION NEGLECTED.

(Par Press Association.) Wellington, October 10

The Education Board this morning carried a motion endorsing the opinion of the district inspectors that recitation was neglected, and urging that greater attention lie paid to elocution in schools. In the course of discussion members spoke pessimistically of the inability of scholars to speak and write English correctly, and the opinion was expressed that the syllabus devoted too much attention to subjects which gave no training for the battle of life.
