HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
Last week’s second programme wap repeated for the last time at His Majesty’s .Theatre on Saturday evening oefore an appreciative audience. This evening a. complete, change of programme will be submitted. The ;hief picture to be shown is one dealing with the life of Joachim Murat, who, at first intended for the church, occame a soldier, and after doing signal service under Napoleon, was placed on the throne of the kingdom of Naples. The picture deals with Murat’s life when, after a brilliant career following on the French Revolution, he had been created a fieldmarshal and a Prince of the French Umpire., Murat is shown presenting i standard he has seized to Napoleon on the field of Jena, and a well-ar-ranged scene shows him scouting at the great battle of Wagram. Next his marriage to Caroline Buonoparte is shown, and then he is seen on the throne of Naples. Murat deserted Napoleon after the Russian campaign, out joined his colours again on his return from Elba, but was defeated by the Austrians in northern Italy uid forfeited his throne. The film shows him leaving his family after his fall, and his return in a short time to endeavour to regain his kingdom. His small army is defeated, and he is condemned to death by a court-martial. When his time_ for execution came he said to the firing party: “Soldiers, do your duty; aim at my heart, not at my head.” A full programme of dramatic, scenic, and comic pictures is billed, which premise to bo well up to staulard. FINAL SKATING CARNIVAL. At His Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday a grand carnival will be held to mark the close of the skating season at the theatre. Prizes are offered for various costumes, and there will be races and competitions of vari>us kinds.
