ANNUAL CONFEEENCE. (Per Press Association ji Napier, October 6. Tho report of the Sunday School Committee showed that four new schools had been openei during the year, 527 children being added to tho rolls and 31 new teachers engaged. Entrants for Baptist rr mou examinations numbered 190 from 22 schools. The number of passes was satisfactory, but tho report f t rood that the composition and spelling of the children were wretched. The examiner for the senior grade 'thn IN v. Howard Elliott) said it was a reflection upon our public scliools system that youths of 16 and 18 y Q ars were not able to write neatly and clearly or compose and spell with greater efficiency. The afternoon session was devoted to discussions of quest! ms of church membership. The Hey. W .Hay reported upon the Austva asian Congress. The Rev .R. S. Gray, who has just returned from a trip round ihe world, and who represented the Baptist Union of New Zealand at the Baptist Union of Cheat Britain, gave a very interesting acouent of his trip.
