AUSTRALIA. SHEARERS’ AWARD. Sydney, Oriole- 6. Justice Higgins, has delivered an award in the shearing •Jspire. The award lixes the hours at not more than forty-eight per week In regard to shearing wet sheep it provides that a shearer may legitimate 1 v lefuse to shear them if a majority of shearers on a secret ballot decide against shearing. Tlio award refuses preference to unionists for the present ,but this decision will not affect any future application. The follow mg minimum shearing fees were fixed ■ -Where rations are not found, Hock sheep, 24s per 100 ;rams and ram sta~;s, 48s;. stud ewes and their lambs, 30s. If rations are found: 10s per week less than the above rates; cooks, 50s; adult shepherds, 37s 00 ; boys, 20s to 26s 'weekly, with keep added. Overtime is to ho paid at' the rate of time and rt half for date first two hours, and‘double rates afterwards.
