Napier, October 6. Tho Baptist Union Conference adopted a strong protest against the “Ne temore” decree, “calling the attention of our churches and of the people generally to the arrogant action of tiio Roman Catholic Church in declaring mixed marriages—in which one of the contracting parties is, or has been, or through christening, was declared to lie a Roman Catholic—null and void in the sight of God; and no better than filthy concubinage unless performed before a Roman Catholic priest.”
The Union balance-sheet showed the income to be £1270. leaving a debit balance of £164. The annuity fund receipts for the year totalled £2lO, and tho fund now stands at £l’/91 19s Id.
The President, in the course of an address, dealt with the question of ministerial changes, and _ suggested the adoption of a scheme limiting the pastorate of one parish to five years, unless a renewal was asked for by both church and pastor.
