Belcher occupied the chair and in introducing the candidate,’ referred to his long connection , with local bodies in Taranaki, and Hi:? connection with business m the d.strict. . .... , At the conclusion of his remarks the candidate was acfcorded a hoait\ vote of thanks for his interesting addins, on the motion of Mr. A. Smitn, seconded by Mr. J- M . llodgorrf’ Last night Mr. McGluggage deliveied an address at Rowan, Mi. D. A. Astbury occupying' the chair. Oh the motion of Mr. v\ isliart, seconded by Mr. Coates, a vote of thanks and conhdencc was passed, an amendment to the effect that a vote oi thanks only bo passed being defeated.
