CHARGE OF SUBORNING VIT-
NESSES,
(Per Press Association.! Auckland, OCtibir 3. At the Police Court this morning a further development of the Kingskmd mystery occurred, when a cabman named John Brooks appeared on two charges of interfering with witnesses of the Crown in the cases against Mrs O’Shaughnessy and J. E. O’Shaughnessy, Mary Hassell, Jane Hartley, and Charlotte Campbell. The accused was charged with attempting to persuade Minme Y hittington to give false evidence at the trial ol Martha O’Shaugnn *ssv .for. murder, and, also, with attempting to persuade Nellie Duggan to give false evidence in t lie Magistrate’s Court on the hearing of tho charges against James E. O’Shaughnessy, Alary Hassell, Jane B. Hartley, and Charlotte Campbell, of being accessaries after the fact of murder. Brooks, who is a bondsman for James E. O’Shaughness, was remanded on bail till Friday.
