Mr. Joseph Stevens, of Riversdale, will contest Wakatipu as a supporter of the present Government.

Hastings, October 4

Mr. H. M. Campbell, Reform Party candidate, addressed a large meeting of electors at Hastings. Being a big land-owner, bis views on the land question were interesting. He is a staunch believer in the freehold, and w here a man is unable to pay cash he holds he should he given land on easy deferred payment. He believed in a graduated tax for revenue pnrpiscs, hut not for confiscation. Ho would vote for Mr. Massey or anyone else on a no-confidence motion.
