HOT WATER ON TAP.
Tn the town of Dnx, in tiio South of Franco, the inhabitants have the remarkable and exceedingly useful gift of hot water "on tap” without the slightest trouble.or mechanical aid whatever. Dax is a very old town, and the principal hot fountain was walled in by the Romans. The water, it is assumed, comes from a considerable depth, and originates in the Pyrenees. Wherever tiio ground is drilled this boiling "can” springs up, which proves it is there in great quantity. .In' certain places, if tire water is undisturbed, a curious.'growth called “Bones - vegetables - iodees” springs up, and this vegetable growth is considered a good cure for rheumatism, lumbago, etc., and the cure is .iffcctcd by applying the matter to the limbs.
