SALE OF A PARCEL OF CHEESE. (Per Press Assoemtion ) Dunedin, October 2. Mr Hnsclden, S.M., gave judgment to-day in a case in which J. Dunddeton, dairy factory proprietor, sued J. 13. Mac Ewan and Co. for £34 16s 6d on the ground that instructions to stop the sale of a shipment of choose per Arawa liad not been complied with. It appeared from the evidence that plaintiff wired to defendants instructing them to stop the sale, hut before cabling to London they wrote to plaintiff, asking for confirmation of instructions, the result being that the shipment was sold before the cable reached Home. The magistrate Hold that plaintiff was entitled to recover, and assessed the damage at 3d per cwt. on J 99 cwt., giving, judgment for plaintiff with costs. A CLERK ARRESTED. Napier, October 2. A young man named A. R. Donaldson, a. clerk employed by the Napier Porough Council, was arrested this evening, and charged with the theft of a cheque for £3. Other charges arc likely to follow.

A CABMAN ARRESTED. Auckland, October 2. A cabman named John Brooks was arrested to-day on a charge of attempting to defeat the course of justice by endeavouring to persuade a woman named Minnie Whittingham to give fale evidence at the trial of Mrs O’Shaughnessy, in the Kingsland case. Mrs Whittingham was one of. the witnesses summoned on behalf of the prosecution. it is likely that another similar charge will be laid aer.inst Brooks.
