AN EXPLANATION BY ITALY. TURKISH TRANSPORT CAPTURED. (Received 3, 9.10 a.m.) Rome, October 2. Italy has notified the Powers that her action at Preveza was due to intended i%Cls on Italian coasts. The Turkish transport Sabah, with troops for Tripoli, was captured and brought to Brindisi. Advices from Corfu state that two Turkish destroyers wore sunk and another captured. The police at Piraeus arrested the crew of a Turkish sailing vessel, suspected of being about to ship arms :or Tripoli. Athens, October 2. The Grand Vizier lias assured Greece that the military movements on the Thessalian frontier arc due to a state of war with Italy. One of the torpedoers at 1 reveza lost her captain (killed by a shell) and eight of her crew (drowned). PEACE PROPOSALS. (Deceived 3. 10.30 a.m.) Berlin, October 2. The St. Petersburg correspondent of “Vossische Zeitung” states that Russia has protested against 1 nrkisn concentration on the Thessalian Irontier.
“Tagcblatt” says that Von Bieberstein, German Ambassador at Constantinople, has handed the Grand \ inicr Italian proposals for the discussion of peace preliminaries.
TRIPOLI EVACUATED
ITALIANS LAND AT PREVEZA

The “Daily News’s” special correspondent at Tripoli reports that the forts were bombarded, and the palace destroyed. The town has boon evacuated. Defences are being prepared in tho hills.
Constantinople, October 2
It is officially stated that iliOQ Italians landed at Preveza and destroyed the forts.

London, October 2. War nows is conflicting. The Italian Embassy denies the Adriatic bombardments, and tiie landing of troops anywhere except at Tripoli. Tripolitan passengers who have reached Sicily state that there was no bombardment of Tripoli up till 8 o’clock on Saturday night.
