We are informed that the firm of Malone, Anderson and Johnstone dissolves partnership as from to-day. Mr \V. G. Malone takes over the Stratford office and conducts the business under his own name. Wo understand that Mr. W. 1). Anderson, by the terras of the partnership agreement, is prevented from practising in Stratford.
A grand poster carnival is to be held at His Majesty’s Theatre on October 12th.
ihe Fire Brigade Ball Committee return thanks in connection with Ihursday evening’s function. The affairs of the recently re-form-ed Town Band have recently been in a quiescent state, but a move forward is now announced, and members of the band are to meet for practice • t tno schoolroom next Tuesdav evening.
On Tuesday next, October 3rd, at tli°, Town Hall, Colonel Birkcnsiiaw, of tl:e Salvation Army, will give a lecture on the “Life and Work of General Booth.” During the evening musical items will ho rendered by the Wesley Church choir ' and Miss McX'oish.
Mr. r J. I. Lamason, who recently lolt the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. to enter into business on ms own account, was yesterday ti;e recipient of a presentation from the employees of tno firm, the function having been delayed owing to tiie difficulty of getting the nmole of the staff together. Mr. Buck! made the presentation, which consisted of a set oi gold sleeve-links, and Mr. Lamason suitably acknowledged the gift. Recognising the developments which are.taking place in the dairying industry, representatives of the wellknown linn of Dimock and Co. have been touring the North of Auckland ind Bay ol Plenty with a view to seeing what prospects there are for pig. supplies. So satisfied tiro they with the results that the com pay has decided to erect tin up-to-date factory a few miles out of Auckland. This will ■>y similar in type to the Wellington factory, and should prove a boon to the district. 'I his is another instance ot _ the progressive manner in which tuts well-known linn have boon useful to the dairy farmer. The discovery in a care in the Aland Islands (Gull ol Bothnia) of a, stone coffin containing a skeleton,' food, axes, and implements of the Stone Age, excites much interest in scientilic circles.
