SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE CO. ('Per Press Association.) Auckland, September 29. The annual report of tho South British Insurance Co., states the net revenue for the year was £388,200 Ms 3d, the surplus in revenue account £87,174 3s 9d, credit to profit and loss account £112,971 3s lOd, and transferred to reserve fund £40,000. The directors recommend a dividend of Is 3d per share for tho half year, .absorbing £17,500, and a bonus to staff £OSOO, leaving £21,598 9s Id to carry to the new account. ( j A CASUAL SORT OF PRISONER. Rotorua, September 29. A prisoner at Waiotapu camp escaped at 5 o’clock yesterday and remained undiscovered till tea-time to-night, when lie turned up for a meal. INCREASE IN FROZEN MEAT CHARGES. Mar,teuton, September 29. Tho Wairarapa Ago lias been inrormed by the managing director of the Wellington Farmers’ Moat Company that advice lias just been received from the Port of London Authority and several London wharf market and storage firms that in consequence of the recent advance in wages, an increase of 74 per cent, is being made on all, charges incurred on frozen neat and other produce, as from August 14. Tills will moan a! loss of many thousands to. the producers of the Dominion.
