In view of the recent assasination of M. Stolypin, the following list of tho more recent assassinations of notabilities is interesting: 1881—March 13th, Alexander TT. of Russia, killed by explosion of a bomb, St. Petersburg. . ■ 1881—July 2nd, General Garfield, President of the United States, ; shot by Charles Jules Guiteau, Washington ; died September 19th.. 1891—June 21th, Marie Francois Sadi Carnot, President of the French Republic, stabbed by Caserio, Giovanni Santo, l 1896 May Ist, Nasr-cd-Deon, Shah of Persia, shot by Mollah Reza, a Sayvid. 1897 August Bth, Senor Canovas del Castillo, shot by an Anarchist, Angiolilli, at. Santa Aquada. 1898— 10th, Empress m Austria, stabbed by the Anarchist Lucchesi, Geneva. 1900— July 29th, King Humber I, o Italy, shot at Monza by Bresci. 1901— -September 6th, William McKin Icy, President, of the United States, shot by Czolgosz, Buffalo Exhibition, died September 14th. 1902 April 15th, M. Sipiaguine, Rue sian Minister of the Interior. 1903 June 11th, King Alexander and Queen Draga of Servia. 1901—June 17th, General Bobrikoff, Governor of Finland, shot by Schumann (son of an ex-ssuator). 1904 July 26th, M. de Plehve, Russian Minister of the Interior. 1905 February 17th, Grand Duke Sergius, killed by a bomb at Moscow. 1908— February, Ist, King Carlos ol Portugal and Louis Philippe, Crowr Prince of Portugal, shot by a party of Republicans at Lisbon.' 1909 July Ist, Sir llPCurzon'Wyllie, Political Aide-de-Camp to the Secretary of State for India,'shot at the Imeprial Institute, London, b\ an Indian student named Dhiugra. 1909 October 26th, Prince Ito, Premier of Japan, shot by a Korean at Harbin. 1910— February 20th, Boutros Pasha, Prime Minister of Egypt, shot at Cairo by a Nationalist student, Ibrahim Wardany. 1911— September 15th, M. Stolypin. Prime Minister of Russia, shot at Kicff by Bogroff, Succumbed September 18th.
