About thirty members of the Merchant Service Guild met to-day to consider the recent Arbitration Court award. , The mooting considered the award unreasonable and unjust, and decided to make a protest to tiie Minister for Labour. Ship-owners state that offices are receiving higher wages than men in similar vessels in any part of the world.. The owners say they will abide by the award. They point "out that it is not likely they uonld take an unfair advantage of any phase of the award. WANGANUI TECHNICAL COLLEGE. Wanganui, September 28. The Wanganui Technical College’s handsome new two-storeyed brick building was officially opened this evening by Mr Geo. Fowlds, ex-Min-ister for Education. Mr Fowlds made an interesting speech, describing the progress which the Education Department had made during the last five years, and of tire advancement which had been made in education. The new building is one of the most complete in Now Zealand.
