ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION.
DR. MAWSON’S EXPEDITION. (Received 29, U. 40 a.m|) Sydney, September 29. Owing to thp enthusiastic manner in which Australia, is ondorsing ids scheme, Dr. Mawson has decided to 'extend the scope of. the expedition Already over £40,000 is in iiAnd. He now intends to raise the limit of subscriptions to‘£so,ooo. If this amount is forthcoming he proposes to establish four instead of three bases, the fourth at Macquarrie island, where a wireless station will bo erected. Otherwise he will strengthen the expedition.
