NEW PARLIAMENTARY BUILDINGS.

Messrs Campbell and Patou's Fining design for the new Parliamentary Buildings is in the English Renaissance style and the estimated cost is not to exceed £185,000 in one claims of stone or £195,000 in superior stone. The principal feature of the front elevation is a stone staircase forty feet wide flanged by two groups of ’statuary. The stairway will extend beyond tho main frontage and will bo flanked on either side by long colonnades of lonic capped pillars ton feet wide. At cither end of the building pavilions v, ill project out beyond the colonnade. Over the main front
staircase will he a dome 35ft. in diameter. The ground floor will comprise committee rooms, and members’ rooms, the principal floor with members’ lobby, library, and legislative chambers being fourteen foot above the road. The lobby will he in the centre of the building immediately opposite the entrance with, the Council at one end and tlre House of Representatives at tho other. These will bo lofty and provided with cclestory roofs with cross ventilation provided. Tho galleries will bo similar to but larger than those in tho old House of Representatives. The press quarters comprise a writing room adjoining the press gallery and a general room, all being self-contained.
