The Clyde holdors-on who struck on September 19th have resumed, pending a national conference of hold-era-on and rive tiers. DUBLIN BAKERS. m m (Received 28, 10.20 a.m.) London, September 27. Dublin bakers have struck for an increase of one shilling per week. A STATEMENT REBUTTED. Hobart, September 27. Little, the secretary of the Miners' Union, strongly denied the statement made by Mr Deakin in the Federal House of Parliament that the Labour Party had brought about the Mount Lyell strike. Both sides, he said, tried to avoid the strike. He thinks the strike will not he of long duration. The strike pay amounts to £2OOO weekly. COAL HEWING RATES i (Received 28, 8.5 a.m.) Sydney, September 28. The southern colliery proprietor; have announced that no reduction on the hewing rate is at present contemplated. . -v .• THE LITHGOW STRIKE. Sydney, September 28. The position at Lithgow is unchanged. Any prospect of a peaceful settlement now depends on flic action of the ..Government, which proposes to sumfnon a conference. A number of non-unionists seeking work at Lithgow have been induced riot to start.
MOUNT LYELL STRIKE
■ (Received 28, 8.30 a.m.) Hobart, September 28. . The:Striko is extending. The moulders'have ceased work and the foundry has been closed. .A meeting of wharf labourers at Strahan decided not- to handle any non-union ore on copper from the mines. The steamers at present loading will be served, but only with general cargo.
