THE RUGBY GAME. WELLINGTON v. SOUTHLAND. (Per Press Association ) Tnvorcargil, September 27. TJio fonrteontli. interprovincial Pugby match, Wellington v. Southland, wns played this afternoon, in cold, windy weather. The visitors were much too clever for the local men, and won Ip, 27 to 9. Southland’s forwards for the most part hold their own, but the backs, compared unfavourably with the visitors. In the (list spell Wellington put up 16 points to 3. Evenson, Wilson, If. Roberts, and Cunningham scoring trios, and E. Roberts converting one, and McEarlane another. Southland began attacking strongly in the second half, and .Mitchell scored, .Martin failing with the kick. Wellington then tools command, and added 11 points, Roberts, Cunningham, and Evenson scoring, and Houlihan converting one.try.
